Slayer: Reign in Blood Cakes
Makes 24
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the filling:
- 1 package cream cheese (8oz.), room temperature
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- red food coloring
For the frosting:
- 2 1/2 sticks butter, room temperature
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 Tablespoons heavy cream
Merciless Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 24 muffin cups with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, salt and baking soda.
- Stir in oil, water, vinegar and vanilla until blended.
- Pour mixture into prepared muffin cups, filling each 2/3 full.
- To make the filling: In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, egg, sugar and salt until light and fluffy.
- Drip several drops of red food coloring until desired, brutal, blood-red shade is achieved.
- Drop a heaping teaspoonful of the cream cheese mixture on top of each batter-filled baking cup.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of one cupcake comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Visit Slayer.net while allowing cakes to cool.
- To make the frosting: In the bowl of an electric mixer, whisk butter until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and salt.
- Continue to whisk for about another minute.
- Add vanilla and heavy cream, whisk until well combined.
- Increase mixer speed and beat until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Frost completely cooled cupcakes. I topped mine with red sanding sugar and red spray food coloring.
- Enjoy while trapped in purgatory.

This is perfect! I am going to try to make the Reign in Blood cakes sometime soon. I am also going to be playing the Tori Amos cover for inspiration while I bake.
I have never seen anything cooler that a Reign in Blood cake... i want one !!
